Professor Phineas T. Pennypickle
of Temecula, CA has announced that he will be giving
prizes to those families and groups who can produce the
most innovative robot inventions and enter them in the
Wacky Robot Invention Convention to be held at his home,
Pennypickle's Workshop, on Sept. 26, 2009.
Skeptics are convinced that those
not involved in the scientific community will not be
able to invent robots that are crazy, wacky, and nutty,
but Pennypickle insists that visitors to his workshop
are as smart as he is and he has complete faith that
they will come up with fun and exciting robot
inventions. |

The Wacky Robot Invention Convention
Can you build a robot that is wacky,
crazy, and nutty?
The Professor knows you can... and
you can win great prizes!Enter to
build a
robot at home or school with your
family or group and it will
be judged at Pennypickle's
Workshop on Saturday, September
26. The robot can be motorized
or non-motorized, but it should be
as wacky as your imagination can
get!
Here is what you do: |
 |
Sign up as
a family team or a group team
The entry fee is $25 per family
or group.
Family
teams can consist of as many people
as you want, and can be any age as
long as you are related.
Group
teams can consist of as many people
as you want, any ages, and must not
be related.
You
will build only one robot for each
team registered.
Group
teams can be scout groups,
classrooms, home schools,
co-workers, etc.
Choose
a name for your team (like "The
Addams Family").
Dress
like a team on the day of the event
(Sept. 26).
Fee
includes museum admission (on day of
event) for up to 6 people. |
 |
Choose
whether you will build a robot that
is motorized or non-motorized
You
will make your own robot at home or
at school and will bring it to
Pennypickle's Workshop on the day of
the event (Sept. 26)
Robots
can be made of ANYTHING!
You
may use commercial products such as
Legos, Erector, KNex, etc. but the
robot should be your own invention.
Parents,
teachers, and group leaders are
encouraged to participate and help
children build their robots.
|
 |
Build your
robot
Give
yourself enough time to build so
your robot will be ready by
September 26!
Make
your robot as inventive as you can,
because it will be judged on how
cool -- and especially wacky -- it
is.
Have
fun with your friends and family as
you build your robot!
Try
not to spend money on your robot -
see if you can build it with things
you have around the house and
garage, like Professor Pennypickle
would do.
Be
sure your robot won't fall apart if
you move it!
|
 |
Have your
robot judged!
Bring
it to Pennypickle's Workshop, the Temecula
Children's Museum, 42081 Main Street
in Old Town Temecula on Saturday,
September 26 by 12:45 p.m. so you
can be checked in and given your
display spot.
Your
robot will be on display in the
parking lot of the Workshop (NOTE!
Our parking lot will be closed!) on the day of the
event and will be judged that same
day, somewhere around 3 p.m.
The
public will be looking at your
robots but will not be allowed to
touch them.
Be
prepared to tell the judges about
your robot!
